In Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by the genius Douglas Adams, Richard MacDuff’s Anthem software is a spreadsheet that converts corporate accounts to music. Johannes Kreidler uses Microsoft Songsmith to the same effect with recent stock market charts and some other culturally relevant ones. Most end on a downbeat, but some unsurprising ones never stop going up.
These are really the best “tunes” to inflict Songsmith on, if you listen to any songs Songsmith creates - they’re fairly tuneful but devoid of spirit. But for these electronically-generated “tunes”, it’s pretty good!
